Remember that you will burn about 100 calories for every mile you go, whether you walk, jog, run, or sprint it! The calorie burn in the same, just the time it takes changes. So get out there and start with a 1-2 mile walk. After a couple of weeks, try jogging for 10-20 seconds every 1-2 minutes. Or try speed walking, you'll get moving faster but without the hard impact on your joints! Whatever you do, take the opportunity to get out there and MOVE!!!
